EAC TIME-BOUND PROGRAMME FOR ELIMINATION OF IDENTIFIED NON-TARIFF BARRIERS (NTBs)

During the 16th meeting of the Council held on 13th September 2008, Arusha, Tanzania, the Council among directed the East African Community Secretariat to prepare a time bound programme for elimination of identified and future Non Tariff Barriers.

On the basis of the Council decision, EAC convened meetings of the Regional Forum on NTBs in December 2008 and June 2009 to prepare the programme. The meetings were attended by representatives of National Monitoring Committees on NTBs where by a draft time bound programme was prerpared. Below is the EAC Time-Bound Programme for Elimination of Identified Non-Tariff Barriers (NTBs).

The programme was adopted by the Council on 4th September 2009. The Council also directed Partner States National Monitoring Committees on NTBs to be making quarterly reports on the elimination of NTBs on the Programme. The 3rd EAC Regional Forum on NTBs was held on 28th – 30th October 2009, where the programme below was updated.
