East African Community (EAC)

EABC’s formation in 1997 was actively supported by the EAC Secretariat in light of the increasing participation of the private sector players in issues of regional integration. EABC has been granted Observer Status at the EAC since the beginning of its operations. EABC is now pursuing an application to have an institutionalised relationship with EAC where it play a lead role in driving private sector agenda.

German Technical Cooperation (GTZ/ICON)

EABC’s main development partner since 2003 has been GTZ/ICON. The support programme aims at developing the role of the private sector as a driving force for regional development and competitiveness in East Africa. The overall project objective is to increase EABC’s lobbying and policy dialogue capabilities.

Department for International Development (DFID)

In 2008 DFID supported EABC through the Regional Trade Facilitation Programme (RTFP). Two studies were carried out to examine the impact of the Customs Union on business.
